Housing engineering and maintenance facilities in addition to office space, this long-span steel framed hangar structure at the Anchorage airport can hold two 737 aircraft at the same time, accessed via a large vertical folding hangar door. Custom steel trusses, including a box-girder truss over the door, span the entire interior hangar space as a clear span
This addition hovers over the original museum structure below. Deep custom plate girders support hanging columns that suspend the structure over the existing, while the framing system bypasses the existing structure, allowing it to remain largely unchanged and in operation during construction.
On the site of the old AC Store in downtown Kodiak, this steel and mass-timber framed building houses many different community functions, including the ability to act as headquarters for emergency response in the area. The building is a Risk Category IV structure, with timber decking and glu-lam beams soaring over steel-framed floors.
Multi-story wood apartments over a concrete podium in downtown Anchorage. A one-story elevated concrete slab over indoor parking supporting 4 stories of wood-framed residential extending above. Helping to bring more residential presence to the downtown area on a relatively small site.
