About Emily

I am a graduate of Utah State University with an emphasis on structural engineering. I am currently focused on foundational phases of design and analysis. I love learning and working with others to understand structures and how to design them efficiently. I am motivated to grow and learn in all aspects of structural designs.   


Emily's skills include:

  • Structural Analysis Fundamentals – static and dynamic load cases, moments, and  stresses
  • Code Familiarity: ASCE 7-16, AWC NDS 2015, AISC 360, ACI, AISI,  etc. 
  • Knowledge of material properties – concrete mix design, masonry, steel, and timber characteristics 
  • Thorough technical documentation of calculation packages

    Contributed to several residences in expansion, retrofit, or design. Designed for elevated or ground decks using mix of materials. Performed preliminary loads calculations with region specific requirements of the code. Designed and sized beams, joists, headers, shear walls, trusses, and diaphragms using modeling programs, excel, and hand calculations. Executed quality control checks on structural drawings and details. Researched ESR for specific fastening materials.

    Efficiently designed buildings and frames with steel as the primary material. Conducted strength checks for steel connections against AISC 360 requirements under the supervision of Senior Engineer. Developed RISA 3D and RISA Connection models for reactions and functionality.

    A niche seismic calculation specific to nonstructural components. Calculated force, overstrength, and connection of mechanical components to their respective attachments. Researched mechanical units for exact models and information. Documented and organized calculations.
